Casting call for a cargobike documentary this Friday

Peter's ShuttleBug 5

When we shipped a ShuttleBug last year to a customer in Marin County, California, birthplace of the mountain bike, we were just starting to understand we were part of a phenomenon that’s changing our country for the better: new cargobike riders tend to become cargobike advocates and family-cycling advocates generally. Two-car families become two-cargobike families, and it changes and enriches their lives. At first they start blogs, then they organize events, set an example, create their own local family-cycling movements. We’ve seen this happen from coast to coast, in the south, Midwest, and northeast, in big cities and suburbs and college towns. Portland, the new world capital of cargobike development just as Marin was with mountain bikes, is changing the way Americans move.

Now our ShuttleBug customer down in Marin, who shares the road with the likes of Joe Breezer, is making a documentary about this phenomenon. And one step in the shooting is happening this Friday, June 25th, at 5 pm at the Cargo Bike Roll Call in Portland. This is our long-winded way of saying the Roll Call is now a casting call. COME OUT TO THIS EVENT. WITH YOUR BIKE! HAVE A BEER. GET YOURSELF IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. Tell the world how your bike has changed your family and your community.
